For the first 22 years of my life, I grew up in a place I’d like to refer to as “The Devil’s Armpit.” It’s always 100+ degrees, politics are upside-down, and there’s just dirt everywhere. Later in life, however, there is this beautiful in this hell of dirt that I discover with every return. I never appreciated how lovely this state actually is in its own way once you get past the hot weather and lack of vegetation. Even politically it’s turning itself around.
These are the moments I captured whenever I return to my roots. A re-discovery and a re-appreciation of a state I grew up in.
